BoomBoom’s New Line of CBD Products Coming Soon!

It’s no secret CBD is taking over the wellness world. From lotions and facials to gummies, CBD is everywhere. Some coffee shops even have CBD lattes!

We’re thrilled to announce we’ve partnered with Folium Biosciences to create a new line of CBD nasal inhalers. Well known for its natural healing abilities, we knew CBD would be the perfect ingredient to include in our products.

But first things first: Let’s take a look at CBD, why it works and why we love it.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound in the cannabis plant. More specifically, CBD is one of the cannabinoids found in hemp (the least processed form of the plant). As a safe and non-addictive healing compound, CBD is making its way into balms, lotions, oils, shampoos and a variety of other products.

“In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD,” according to a report from the World Health Organization.

The Difference Between CBD and THC

CBD and THC are the two most well-known cannabinoids in the cannabis plant with one major difference between them. THC is psychoactive, causing the mind-altering effects associated with marijuana.

Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive. In other words, using CBD does not result in the “high” sensation. This is an appealing option for many people who don’t want to experience the mental effects associated with THC.

Cannabinoids work by attaching to different receptors in the body. In this case, it’s CB1 and CB2. The most well-known cannabinoid in cannabis is THC, which attaches to CB1 receptors. Most CB1 receptors are in the brain - affecting thinking, memory, and mood.

CB2 receptors are present in the immune system, linked to pain and inflammation. While CBD was once thought to attach to CB2, researchers have found that CBD doesn’t attach to either receptor. It simply directs the body to use more of its own cannabinoids (the human body produces some cannabinoids on its own).

CBD Health Benefits

For many people who experience mental or physical pain, medications are their go-to pain reliever. The problem with medication, however, is the dangerous side effects that often come along with frequent drug use.

In fact, according to research, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMADs) are linked to liver damage, lung infections and bone marrow suppressions.

That’s why more people are turning to less-invasive treatment methods to manage their pain without the health risks. This is where CBD comes in. Scientifically-proven to help with a variety of health issues, CBD is becoming the new go-to alternative medicine.

Here are several of its benefits:

Reduces anxiety

According to research, CBD can help minimize different types of anxiety such as social anxiety disorder (SAD) and the anxiety associated with public speaking.

CBD can also treat pediatric anxiety and insomnia caused by PTSD.

Relieves arthritis and joint pain

Did you know one third of adults reported having joint pain within the past 30 days? Needless to say, if you’re currently suffering from joint pain, you’re not alone.

The good news is you can go directly to the source of your pain to experience fast and focused relief with transdermal CBD. Transdermal CBD is scientifically-proven to reduce inflammatory joint diseases and related conditions including Rheumatoid arthritis and Osteoarthritis.

In a study published in the European Journal of Pain, researchers from the University of Kentucky found CBD was successful in relieving arthritis symptoms in rats. After inducing arthritis in the knee joints of rats, they analyzed how CBD affected their mobility and if CBD lowered their pain.

“Transdermal CBD gel significantly reduced joint swelling,” the study reports. “These data indicate that topical CBD application has therapeutic potential for relief of arthritis pain-related behaviors and inflammation without evident side-effects.”

Reduces inflammation

Numerous studies show the positive impact of CBD on inflammation.

In a study published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, researchers found topical CBD has anti-inflammatory properties. The study concluded “daily treatment with topical 1 % CBD-cream may exert neuroprotective effects against EAE.”

Also, research from the Free Radical Biology and Medicine Journal shows CBD is helpful in decreasing the effect of inflammation on oxidative stress and reducing the risk of organ damage. Oxidative stress and inflammation is not only linked to rheumatoid arthritis, but also diabetes, depression and Alzheimers.

Improves skin health

Known for its antioxidant properties, CBD protects the skin from free radicals and environmental pollutants, which can cause wrinkles and skin aging. It’s useful in treating a variety of skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis to acne.

No risk of addiction

Unlike many medications, CBD is not addictive. It’s non-psychoactive, meaning the user can’t feel the sensation of being “high”.

Researchers are continuing the explore the healing properties of this powerful therapeutic compound.

Choosing the Best CBD Product

With so many options on the market, it can be confusing and overwhelming to find the one that’s right for you. The questions running through your mind probably sound something like: “What product is the most effective?”, “What works the fastest? “What brand can I trust?”

That’s why we’ve eliminated the guesswork.
